Malin Bridge park and ride

Work gets underway on the new car park

WORK has begun on a new half-million pound park and ride site next to the Malin Bridge Supertram stop.

The car park is due to open this summer. It will provide space for 104 cars, including seven disabled drivers. There will also be space for five bikes.

The entrance will be barrier-controlled and there will also be CCTV cameras and security lighting.

It is being built on land between the Burgon and Ball factory and the Towsure store.

The scheme is being funded by the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority (PTA).

An added bonus is that we will have access to this stretch of the River Loxley for the first time.

The PTA are providing a new riverside walkway, complete with seating areas.

The perfect place to while away a few minutes while you wait for the tram to arrive on a summer day, (remember those?)
